The Heartbeat of Almost Home: Monthly Donors

Your monthly gift is the steady pulse that keeps our rescue running. By becoming a monthly donor, you ensure that every cat who walks through our doors has the food, medical care, and time they need to find their forever home.

  • No matter which level you choose, your monthly commitment grants you access to our digital newsletter and exclusive rescue updates. To celebrate those who are able to provide enhanced monthly support, we include a special surprise gift from Almost Home MKE.

  • Running a 100% volunteer-led, cage-free rescue involves more than just love. On average, it costs our rescue over $450 to prepare a single "healthy" cat for adoption. And, for our medical cases, that number can climb into the thousands. Your monthly gift helps us cover:

    • High-quality nutrition & litter

    • Routine vaccinations & microchipping

    • Spay/neuter surgeries

    • Emergency & specialized medical treatments

  • When you become a monthly donor, you are the reason a kitten survives a rough start, a cat receives a pain-ending surgery, and every resident sleeps in a safe, warm bed. Your consistency gives us the confidence to pull cats from high-kill shelters and provide them with a cage-free sanctuary for as long as it takes to find their family. You are their hero.

  • Rabies Vaccination: $45

  • Fecal Testing & Deworming: $90

The Story of: Athena

Athena fought a tough battle as a kitten slated for euthanasia at a local shelter, but we knew she was a fighter. Her mother attacked her, and she had to have her tail amputated. She also had extensive posterior nerve damage, which made her incontinent, but this is no death sentence!

We got her the care she needed, and we even made sure she had custom diapers made so she could live the happy, active life she deserved.

The Story of: Brock

Brock came to us from a shelter where he had a first-level test that showed positive for FeLV. The shelter didn’t want to pay for second-level testing, and he was forced into isolation.

We took Brock in and invested hundreds of dollars to get him the next phase of testing. His results were negative, and he successfully found his forever home.

The Story of: Brando

Brando was a stray who was limping on his left front leg. Radiographs showed a poorly healed fracture of the elbow. There was also calcification and arthritis surrounding it. We tried everything to give him the best possible quality of life, but it was ultimately determined that amputation would be the best route for his health.

He had his left front leg removed and was given lots of love and TLC from his foster mom. Brando found his forever home in December of 2023!

The Story of: Kenji

Kenji (and his brother Nubit) came to us from the Texas Cat Coalition. Volunteers noticed he had become less active, more distant, and had gained some weight in his midsection.

We took him to the vet for evaluation, and he was diagnosed with Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIPV). FIPV is a serious disease caused by the mutation of a feline coronavirus.

We were able to get him an experimental drug called GS-441524, and he successfully completed his treatment and was adopted!

Total Cost of Care:
$3,617.00

The Story of: Spy

Sweet Spy was battling a severe ulcer in her right eye. Despite countless vet visits, consultations with an ophthalmologist, and multiple medications (including daily pain management), her condition hadn’t improved, leaving her in constant discomfort.

To give Spy the relief she deserved, our vet recommended removing the affected eye. This surgery allowed her to heal comfortably and finally be pain-free.

Spy had her surgery, and it was a success! She recovered wonderfully and went to her forever home in January 2025.
